Recycle Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Batteries
All Electronic and Electrical Equipment (EEE) must be marked with this symbol to indicate that it is covered by the WEEE Directive, the provisions of which require that producers or manufacturers of EEE become liable to pay for take-back treatment and recycling of end of life equipment (WEEE).
Why recycle?
Unwanted electrical equipment is the fastest growing type of waste.
Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle electrical equipment it will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination - harming wildlife and also human health.
We’re proud to support your local authority in providing local recycling facilities for electrical equipment.
To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with this symbol) in your bin.
How are we helping?
United Kingdom
In the UK, JML as a distributor must facilitate the take-back of household WEEE from UK consumers and provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge. As a responsible retailer, we have met the requirements placed on us by financially supporting the national network of WEEE recycling centres established by local authorities. This is achieved through membership of the national Distributor Take-back scheme (DTS) set up by Valpak.

Our DTS Registration ID is 400480. We are also registered with the Repic Scheme for WEEE (Certificate Number - EK0057TS) and Batteries (Certificate Number - BPRN00970).
Republic of Ireland
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) purchased from JML Direct is taken back free of charge on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis. Waste batteries including rechargeable batteries are taken back free of charge. You are not obliged to make any purchase when returning old batteries. Each local authority must also accept household WEEE and small batteries free of charge at its recycling facilities. All WEEE and waste batteries must be recycled and should not be placed in any of your household wheelie bins. Make sure you always recycle all your old electrical goods and batteries.
JML is a member of WEEE Ireland, a compliance system licensed in Ireland that looks after the collection, treatment and recycling of batteries and electronic equipment at the end of its life-cycle.
