Halloween Crafts For Kids And Adults

It’s not long until Halloween lands, which means it is the perfect time to watch some scary films and snack on some spooky treats. One thing that a lot of people like to do during this time of year is enjoying some Halloween crafts, so why not get a little creative too?

There are lots of fun and exciting Halloween crafts for adults and kids you could try, and this gives you a great chance to spend some quality time with your children as well. Here, we take a look at some of the top Halloween crafts for kids and adults alike.

Trick or Treat Bags

Halloween crafts - Jack-O-Lantern trick or treats buckets

There are lots of fun sewing projects that you can enjoy when it comes to Halloween, so this seems like an obvious place to start on our list of top Halloween crafts. Sewing a trick or treat bag is a lot of fun because you can personalise yours in any manner you wish, from funky fabrics to ghoulish appliques made from felt or scrap fabric!  You can easily make a basic Halloween-themed tote bag using Magic Stitch, a cordless and battery-powered handheld sewing machine. It can be used at any time and any place. Whether you are on holiday or you are looking for something fun to do at home, this device won’t let you down, making it the perfect choice for many different Halloween crafts.

Alternatively, paint a face on an orange bucket with black paint for a jack-o-lantern effect.

Wooden Spoon Witch Puppets

These witch puppets are easy to make, and once ready you’re guaranteed to have hours of fun – how about using them to act out a scary story? The great thing about these is if you’d prefer another character, wooden spoons can easily be turned into vampires, ghosts, zombies or robots with just a lick of paint.

Frankenstein’s Monster Masks

This Halloween craft is so so easy. Simply get a cardboard box and use a black felt tip pen to design a monster’s face, then cut out a pair of eyes. It’s really that easy!

Halloween Finger Puppets

This is a great craft for adults to enjoy with their children. All you need is different coloured felt, some accessories like sticky eyes, and some thread and a needle or a handheld sewing machine. If this is something you are going to be doing with children, make sure they are supervised properly. For younger children, check out these glue-only finger puppets. From vampires and pumpkins to ghosts and witches, there are so many different characters that you can create when making Halloween finger puppets, so let your imagination run wild.

Paper Jack-o-Lanterns

Another option that you should consider is Paper Jack-o-Lanterns. There are a lot of different tutorials online for you to follow for this decoration, as it is a popular one. Also, it won’t cost a lot, as all you are going to need is some orange and black paper or a black marker pen to draw faces on the paper lanterns. Simple but effective, and great if you’re short on time.

Halloween Garlands

Paper garlands are very easy to make but the options are limitless when it comes to this craft. You can keep it simple and use white paper or cardboard to create a ghost garland. Another option that we love is the cat face garlands that we have seen. With this option, you can use a cat face template to create the black cat faces to go along the garlands, and then you hang string lights as the garland, strategically placing the lights so that they work as cat eyes. This is something that looks incredibly impressive when it is all done.

Halloween Costumes

Children dressed as ghosts

Another one for the Magic Stitch to help with, and a great one for trick or treating. For a super quick costume simply grab a piece of fabric and cut out some moons, stars and spooky shapes. Sew them onto a black or white piece of fabric and voila! You can have anything from a witches cape to a spooky ghost costume – all ready to go out and get some treats.

Tissue Box Monsters

We love this Halloween craft because it is one that is suitable for all ages. If you have young children, they will have a lot of fun with this one. Plus, it involves reusing items that would otherwise go in the bin, which is always a good thing. All you need is a used tissue box, and then you can create your own monster mash using the likes of pompoms, googly eyes, and paint. You and your children can have a lot of fun personalising your own monsters, from adding one eye to giving the monster some horns, the options are well and truly endless.

Glitter Stem Pumpkins

Of course, we all know that traditional pumpkin carving has long been a popular activity at this time of year. However, there are many different ways that you can decorate pumpkins for your Halloween party or simply give your home a spooky touch.

One of the options is to paint the base of the pumpkin and then cover the stem in glitter. This is easy yet very effective, and you can have a lot of fun playing around with the different colours. Start off by painting the base of the pumpkin and allowing it to dry. Once it has dried, all you need to do is dip the stem of the pumpkin in glue and then cover it with craft glitter. Whether you want to go for a unique mixture or a solid shade, the choice is yours, but this is one that looks incredibly unique and impressive without requiring massive amounts of effort.

Vampire Bat Leaves

The final suggestion that we have for you is vampire bat leaves. We love this option because it gives you a chance to go outside and enjoy the great outdoors with your children. You can go and pick some leaves together – a perfect autumn activity. Once you return home, you can use a matte spray to paint the leaves black. Once they have dried, you can use white paint or materials to create the bats’ faces. This is a great craft because it is simple, effective, looks great, and involves a bit of exercise too!

As you can see, there are a number of fun and different Halloween crafts that you can enjoy. We hope that the Halloween crafts for kids and adults that we have mentioned above will give you some unique and fun things to do with your little ones this year. After all, with half term holidays upon us, it is always nice to spend it doing something crafty with your children so that you can create some fun, yet spooky memories together.
